My goal is to capture a bit
of that brilliant equine
spirit in each livewire with
the aim of crating art that
inspires and even greater
love and appreciation of
horses... and I hope they
make you smile too!
Livewires make
fabulous gifts-- So
keep some handy for
birthdays,
anniversaries,
graduations and
barn parties
Materials
Livewires are made from copper-coated
non-tarnish artistic wire in various gages.
They are surprisingly strong, but should be
kept inside unless sprayed with a clear
'weather-proofing spray'.
Some horses have glass beads too!

The Livewire Story
I made my first livewires at the age of 12, sitting on a bale of hay in the
barn while my horse watched (apparently quite amused) as I bent and
twisted baling wire to make a horse. Over the last decade livewires have
evolved to what you see today.

Bio on me (Makendra Silverman)
I started livewires the year before I started college in order to fund my
education, so thank you! I have been riding since I was seven and
horse-crazy long before that. I started with basic western and trail,
moved to local hunter/jumper shows and then on to some wonderful
endurance riding with my neighbor, Pat Super, on her 'Super Ranch
Arabians.' However, for the last 7 years or so my focus has been
dressage and training young horses. I spent nine months as a working
student at Across the Diagonal Farm, in Carmel, CA, under the
instruction of Jennifer Roth. Jennifer is a USEF 'S' Judge and breeds,
trains and sells Lipizzaners. I had a fabulous time as a working student
and Jennifer even named 'Livewires'. You can visit her site at
www.LipizzansAndDressage.com

I just graduated from Colorado College with a biology degree (emphasis
on field studies).  I spent the fall of 2006 studying in Tanzania and fell in
love with the people, the language and the wildlife. If you want to learn
more:

I am currently working in Colorado Springs for Taurus Productions with
filmmaker Ginger Kathrens. We are making a documentary about the
Pryor Mountain wild horses in southern Montana which will be the third
film that Ginger has made for Nature, focusing on the stallion, Cloud.
Ginger also started a non-profit: The Cloud Foundation, to protect wild
horses. Find out more about these horses and the foundation at
www.thecloudfoundation.org. 10% of sales of miniature livewires go to
support The Cloud Foundation.
I will be spending one week per month in Montana with the wild horses
and working full time, so I will make your livewires as quickly as
possible, but there might be some delay.
Also-- my dad has a website too! check out
